PhD in Routing Over Low Power and Lossy Networks Protocol

Introduction

WSNs are a unit of Low Power and Lossy Networks or LLNs that are characterized as devices that are built on the model of power and energy consumption that are interlinked. The LLN device which acts as an originator and router is lossy in nature. Hence, through this research proposal, a method has been proposed to improve the lifetime of the overall IoT structure.

Idea

The idea behind the research proposal is to enhance the efficiency of the IoTs by increasing the lifetime of the network model. IoT is the technology that drives the whole world; hence its architecture should be the most refined.

This will be done by developing a new routing method for each node. The synchronization between the sinks will allow to determine the mobility level, traffic, and network size.

Issues in the current technology

The lifetime of the entire structure is one of the biggest and most focused challenges of the research. Ineffective route selection is the primary reason for the high energy depletion rate in LLNs and increased traffic.The network routers and the interlinked nodes have restricted battery life, memory, and low data rates which leads to maximal loss rates.

Approach

In the research proposal, Enhanced Mobility and Content Centric (EMCC) Technique has been deployed. The EMCC is implanted in the RPL in order to maintain the handshaking signals. When the nodes initialize movement, their path is captured by the parent node.

The following algorithm shows data forwarding phase when no AKC is received.

Algorithm: Data Forwarding Phase

Packet Forward _noack ()

If (check_mobility_table(packetàdestination_IP)

==TRUE) then

If (packetNum Of Transmission

>Mobile_Max_Transmission)

&&(packet_Type==”A”)

Then

Packet  next_hop_mac_addr=Broadcast addr1

Else

If(packet    Num Of Transmission

>Mobile_Max_Transmission)&&(packet_Type==” B”)

then

Packet   next_hop_mac_addr=Broadcast addr2

Send(packet)

Else

if(packet   Num Of Transmission

<= Mobile_Max_Transmission) then

Packet   Num Of Transmission++

Retransmission(packet)

End if

End if

Proposal

The simulation model has TX range as 50 with timing of 3600 seconds. In the proposed architecture, 25 nodes are used with Point-to-Multipoint and no speed limit. The nodes are positioned randomly. The enhanced mobility feature eases the parent selecting process that act as a helping feature that reduces the flow of traffic and latency which eventually leads to maximized lifetime of the structure.
